At its May 14 meeting, the East Lansing City Council voted to establish a new Charter Review Committee. The Committee will examine the City Charter and make recommendations regarding any changes it may feel are necessary or appropriate.

Work on the northwest elevator in the Charles Street Parking Garage, 121 Charles St. began today, marking the start of the second phase of the modernization project. Signs and barricades have been put in place for public safety.

Community members are advised that the City of East Lansing’s offices and facilities will be closed on Wednesday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth.

In an effort to assist property owners with recovery and cleanup following the overnight storm, the East Lansing Department of Public Works (DPW) will provide free bulk waste stickers and yellow City trash bags to impacted homes for the next week.

Community members are invited to attend the grand reopening of Albert EL Fresco on Thursday, May 2 from 5-9 p.m. To accommodate setup of the space, portions of Albert Avenue will be closed beginning Monday, April 29.

Community members are advised that phone service for all East Lansing municipal facilities will be disrupted on Friday, April 26 beginning at 5 p.m. due to planned carrier maintenance. The expected downtime is between two to four hours.

The City of East Lansing announced today that Finance Director Penny Wright will retire from City employment, effective Friday, April 26.
